Resin (Jesmonite AC100)

Items made from this have some weight and a gorgeous, smooth, stone-like finish.

It’s heat resistant so makes a great coaster.

Also known as “eco resin” because it contains no VOCs and is non-toxic. I’m not going to greenwash you - it contains acrylic.

Microconcrete (Jesmonite AC730)

These pieces are slightly heavier and again have a beautiful smooth, cool finish. Some are then acid etched to reveal a rough textured finish and a bit of sparkle.

Microconcrete is water resistant and specced by the maker for things like plant pots so it’s tough stuff. I add a sealer that increases it’s resistance to water. It’s also heat resistant.

Both types of material are heat resistant and non-toxic but I seal all my pieces (except the decorative letters). I’ve recently started using a food safe sealer on some resin pieces but generally I’d say don’t use them for food.
